When I wrote a lighthearted poem about "Latin" people in response to what is occurring in the world, Facebook banned me from posting on my account for 24 hours. This is hilariously ironic, because I would say that BANNING COMEDIC POETRY ON A WEBSITE THAT HAS BEEN PITCHED BY MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO BE A REGULATED AND GOVERNMENT-GRANTED MONOPOLY OF COLLECTIVE COMMUNICATION (Facebook is practically a public utility at this point) IS HATEFUL TO THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA. Keep in mind that I am not really Jewish, or Muslim, and that I am much more Latin myself than I am Semitic (I am of primarily BRITISH and even ENGLISH heritage: London was obviously part of Rome), even though I'm not stupid enough to take myself all that seriously, which is to say that THIS WAS ACTUALLY WRITTEN IN DEFERENCE AND LOVE AND AS AN APOLOGY TO THOSE WHOM I FEEL LATIN PEOPLE (such as myself) ARE OFFENDING. If it is "hateful" towards anyone (that is entirely subjective)--IT IS DIRECTED AT MY OWN CULTURE AND MYSELF, which I don't necessarily think to be the case (I'd even say "Latin" people are a racial fiction)--I simply believe IT IS OUR RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO SAY SUCH THINGS, AND OTHER AMERICANS SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO SAY SUCH THINGS, AND I AM ALSO FIGHTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS, especially since THIS WAS POSTED ON A PRIVATE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT THAT WAS COMPOSED OF 59 ADULTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF MINE. THERE'S PORNOGRAPHY ALL OVER THE INTERNET THAT CHILDREN CAN EASILY ACCESS--WHY ARE WE REGULATING PRIVATE SPEECH BETWEEN SELECT GROUPS OF ADULTS?!? THIS IS WHY NOBODY WANTS TO USE FACEBOOK, BUT IT'S A BASIC NETWORK EXTERNALITY THAT WE HAVE BEEN COERCED INTO!!!

Interestingly enough, Facebook did not have a problem with my other post that stayed up, even though I posted it almost immediately after my poem--the "Facebook approved" post stated the following: "At least when the Japanese call themselves the master race--we can all see where they are coming from? You know?!?" I thereafter posted a PUNK rock cover song by No Use For a Name - "Turning Japanese". It should be obvious that this was all done in good humour and to prove a point (if anyone knows anything about punk rock--it was largely created to promote the First Amendment), but this is why nobody really wants to use Facebook for intellectual and/or serious political (much less economic) purposes, even though our only other social media option will be controlled by Elon Musk--soon enough!!! Also, if anyone wishes to see a full history of my Facebook posts--feel free to check out the blog archive, because I have made copies of every Facebook post that I have ever created, and I have an EXTREMELY long history of posting ridiculous material on Facebook--much of which I feel is actually far more offensive and "hateful" at times than the poem that finally forced me to stop posting material out of frustration, even though my Facebook musings are mainly meant to be an epic love story about my feelings for Alessia Cara: need I say more about Italians? ;)
